Book your first visit and get a thorough cleaning to keep your teeth in great condition.
All patients arriving at our office will have a Comprehensive Oral evaluation completed of their mouth. This is where our Dentist in Palos Park will examine every single tooth and examine your gums, tongue and inner cheeks and evaluate your bite. In order to perform a proper and thorough dental exam, we take a full mouth series of xrays to properly diagnose disease and cavities. This is a requirement in our office.
Our Dentists in Palos Park may also take photos of your teeth to help explain and educate you on your oral condition. We find many patients appreciate this as it helps explain and show what the dentist is describing.
One of our highly skilled dental hygienists will clean your teeth of any and all plaque or tartar when you come in for your initial exam. This typically takes about 30 minutes and is finished off with a nice polish. If there is heavy plaque and severe gum disease then this simple cleaning may not be sufficient and we may recommend a deeper more thorough cleaning called Scaling and Root Planing.
Depending on your home care and how much plaque/tartar you accumulate we may recommend 3, 4 or 6 month intervals for your cleanings.
We offer fluoride treatment to all of our patients regardless of age. Flouride treatment helps inhibit tooth decay by helping to re-calcify enamel. It makes enamel stronger and helps fight off cavity causing bacteria.
Typically, Insurance covers fluoride for children under the age of 18, however every plan is different. Regardless of Insurance coverage we recommend patients receive fluoride treatment every 6 months.
Dental Sealants are a preventative treatment that is highly recommended. They are used to seal pits and fissures that our found in our permanent premolars and molars. This helps prevent bacteria from creating cavities. They are typically placed on the molars at the time of eruption (6 and 12 years old) however, they are beneficial to place on any tooth that doesn’t have them already. They can last anywhere from 6 months to 3 years.
Dental Sealants for Adults is also recommended.
A visual exam will be completed of all soft tissues in the mouth including the tongue, cheeks, palate and gums to detect any abnormal growths. This is typically done during the comprehensive exam. If anything looks unusual our Dentist in Orland Park may refer you to an oral surgeon for further evaluation.
